Wasteair purification and heat recovery with the FERCHER spray tunnel
Heat recovery from exhaust air

The heat from exhaust air from food production, e.g., from steam peelers or deep fryers, can be recuperated in order to significantly reduce primary energy consumption (e.g., natural gas or heating oil). To achieve this, the exhaust air from production is passed through a FERCHER spray tunnel, where it is sprayed with water.
Exhaust Air Cleaning

The fine spray mist in the spray tunnel almost completely washes out macroscopic solids, which also cleans the air and significantly reduces the odor of the air.

Due to the fact that the spray water will contain residues from the wasteair, it cannot be used directly in the process.
In order to be ablte to utilize the energy, the hot spray water then is led through a contamination-resistant FERCHER wastewater heat exchanger (Type FB) to transfer the heat from the spray water to clean process water.
Our heat exchangers can also be installed outdoors. They then feature special drainage outlets and can be operated frost-proof even in winter without the need for antifreeze.
Use of thermal energy
The heated, clean process water can be used in a variety of ways, e.g., in the production process, for preheating boiler feed water, for facility heating, and much more. The typical return-on-investment for these systems is between 1 and 2 years. (This considers not only cost of heatexchangers but also of required piping, sensors, mounting and commissioning work and such)
